For this unit our first grade students looked at the homes and building of Frank Lloyd Wright.
We learned architect is an artist who designs the way buildings look.
Next, we learned how architects create blueprints or a set of drawings before they a house is built. We created our own blueprints, by first designing
floor plans from a
birds eye view. Then, we had some fun examining a variety of traditional and wacky homes and created a
frontal view of what our dream house would look like.
Students learned how facade means front and explored using watercolor pencils.
