To start off the 2014-2015 school year in the art
studio, fourth grade worked on a
creative drawing exercise.
Each student was given a letter from the alphabet, which they cut out
and glued onto their page, to ultimately incorporate it somehow into a drawing
of an animal. We
were limited to sharpie markers instead of pencils, so we could practice
turning our mistakes into something unexpected and beautiful, which is the
philosophy of our art studio.
Additionally, students used three
different size sharpie markers to add to variety of line in
our drawings. We discussed how different lines or mark
making can help artists express a specific texture or information to the
viewer. By the end of class, it was
clear we have excellent problem solvers in fourth grade!
